Veteran Hong Kong performers Law Kar-ying and Paw Hee-ching have been cast in leading roles for 'The Grand Tribute,' a new Cantonese opera drama. This film is helmed by director Sri Kishore, known for his 2021 feature 'My Indian Boyfriend.' Unlike his previous contemporary romantic drama which featured a South Asian male lead, 'The Grand Tribute' delves into the rich traditions of Cantonese performing arts, with its narrative unfolding entirely within the vibrant city of Hong Kong.

The narrative centers on a Cantonese opera artist in his seventies who orchestrates a final performance as a profound gesture of affection for his ailing wife. Law Kar-ying, himself an accomplished Cantonese opera practitioner, will portray this central character. Opposite him, Paw Hee-ching's involvement lends depth and authenticity to the film's portrayal of the couple's relationship, rooted in their shared experience of this art form.
