Publisher Ends Ties with Author Over AI Usage in Novel
Boreal, a Canadian publishing house, has terminated its contract with acclaimed Haitian-Canadian novelist Thelyson Orelien after confirming that artificial intelligence was utilized in the creation of his best-selling work, “It Was Either That or Die.” This decision follows an investigation triggered by allegations of AI involvement, despite Orelien's prior denials and the publisher initially standing by him. The Goncourt Prize, a prestigious French literary award, had already removed the novel from its shortlist due to high probabilities of AI-generated text.
