Princess of Wales's Dedication to Charity and Style

André Leon Talley

Former creative director and editor-at-large at Vogue, a towering and influential figure in fashion journalism.

The Princess of Wales recently demonstrated her unwavering commitment to charitable causes and her distinctive fashion sense. Having successfully undertaken the demanding National Three Peaks Challenge, she revisited The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity to observe the positive effects of the funds she helped raise. This visit not only underscored her personal connection to holistic cancer care, stemming from her own health journey, but also showcased her penchant for re-wearing beloved pieces, choosing an elegant emerald green dress for the occasion.

In June, the Princess embarked on the formidable National Three Peaks Challenge, an intense endeavor that requires scaling the highest mountains in Scotland, England, and Wales within a single 24-hour period. This rigorous undertaking was a testament to her resolve, all in support of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This organization is dedicated to enhancing access to comprehensive cancer care, a cause that resonated deeply with the Princess following her own cancer diagnosis earlier in 2024.

Two months post-challenge, and now in remission, the Princess made an unannounced return to the Royal Marsden facility. Her visit involved meaningful interactions with both medical staff and patients, allowing her to witness firsthand how the funds generated from her challenging feat were being utilized to advance cancer care initiatives. For this special engagement, she selected an emerald green dress from the eco-conscious brand Suzannah London. This particular garment was previously seen on her during Mental Health Awareness Week in 2023, illustrating her preference for sustainable fashion and her habit of styling beloved items in her wardrobe repeatedly.

Her affinity for the color green and specific fashion pieces is well-documented. Just days prior to her Royal Marsden visit, she was photographed in a vibrant Emilia Wickstead green dress while accompanying Prince George to Eton College for the commencement of his academic term. Her green wardrobe choices extend to a dark green Ralph Lauren blazer worn at this year's Commonwealth Games and an emerald Alexander McQueen coat, which she chose for the Irish Guards' St. Patrick's Day Parade in March. These instances collectively emphasize her consistent fashion philosophy: when she discovers a style that suits her, she embraces it wholeheartedly.

The Princess of Wales continues to inspire through her dedicated charitable work and her mindful approach to personal style, demonstrating how royalty can blend duty with a personal touch. Her commitment to The Royal Marsden and her thoughtful fashion choices reinforce her image as a dedicated and influential public figure.
