Sundance Institute Welcomes New Marketing and Communications Head for Pivotal Era

In a pivotal development for the arts community, the Sundance Institute, renowned globally for its dedication to independent storytelling, has officially named Tracy Brady as its Chief Marketing, Brand, and Communications Officer. This announcement, made on October 20, 2026, signals a forward-looking strategy as the Institute prepares for its much-anticipated 2027 Sundance Film Festival in Boulder, Colorado. Ms. Brady will operate from this new hub, taking on the crucial responsibility of shaping the Institute's communication and brand narrative under the direct supervision of CEO David Linde.

Tracy Brady's distinguished career prior to this appointment includes a notable tenure as Senior Vice President of Communications and Social Impact at Green Thumb Industries, and earlier, she spearheaded global communications for Curaleaf. Her professional journey also features significant roles at Hill Holiday as Senior Vice President of Corporate Communications and Marketing, where she orchestrated sponsorship and experiential marketing initiatives for prestigious cultural events, including past Sundance festivals, serving clients such as Bank of America and Cadillac. Additionally, her experience as a Vice President at Arnold Entertainment and Arnold Brand Promotions involved crafting partnership and sponsorship strategies that often intersected with Sundance-related projects. Beyond the corporate sphere, Ms. Brady has deep roots in the entertainment industry, with a background in publicity, awards, and marketing strategy at esteemed organizations like Fox Searchlight Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, and Turner Broadcasting. A Fordham University alumna, she is also an accomplished novelist, essayist, and humorist, and the visionary founder of Wit & Word, an event series spotlighting independent artists and writers.

David Linde, CEO of the Sundance Institute, expressed profound confidence in Brady's capabilities, remarking, “Tracy possesses a visionary, strategic, and results-driven approach to marketing and communications. As we embark on this exciting transition to our new home in Boulder and navigate the evolving landscape of independent cinema, it is imperative to have a trusted voice that can unite our diverse community, artists, and global audience. Tracy's profound understanding of storytelling, brand marketing, and strategic communications, combined with her lifelong dedication to the arts, positions her as the ideal executive to propel our brand forward.”

Echoing Linde's sentiments, Ms. Brady shared her enthusiasm for the role: “As a lifelong admirer of independent filmmaking and a devoted storyteller, I have always believed in the transformative power of artistic expression to influence culture and foster connection. My primary objective, as we approach the 2027 Sundance Film Festival in Boulder, will be to unify our entire community, both internally within the Institute and externally. My aim is to harmonize our communication and marketing efforts under a singular mission, enabling us to more effectively support artists, adapt to the dynamic shifts within the entertainment sector, and ensure that the Sundance Institute maintains its standing as the foremost advocate for independent filmmakers globally.”
